Reggae Sumfest 2014

10 Jun

reggae-sumfest-2014In little over a month, tens of thousands music fans and Jamaica-holics will converge at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay for the 22nd staging of Reggae Sumfest 2014.

This year marks my 5th Sumfest experience and after an extended time away from Jamaica, I’m ready to kick off my return with this concert and party series.

Reggae Sumfest 2014 Events

Sumfest is more than the 3 nights of concerts. The fun kicks off Sunday with the beach party. Here’s the official event line up but keep an eye out for other activities throughout the week.

All White Party (July 15th): Pier 1

This year’s acts include some of my Jamaican favorites including Jah Cure, Chronixx, Busy Signal, Mr. Vegas and Assassin.

Tessanne Chin, winner of season five of the voice will also be headlining. I suspect she’ll be performing many singles off her newly released album, Count on My Love among some of her older hits and covers I love, namely Hideway.

As for international headliners, Sumfest has included Wiz Khalifa, Future, Jason Derulo and Israeli reggae band, Zvuloon Dub System. Wiz Khalifa‘s set should be high energy and a lot of fun. I’m excited for Future as well I just hope he is better received than Goodie Mob was at Jazz and Blues a few years back. I wonder if Future and Wiz will have their kids and wives in tow… I don’t really know Jason Derulo‘s music, but I’m sure it will all be a good time! It’s cool to see the lineup diversified a bit with Zvuloon Dub System.

I missed it :-(, April you look great and your hair has grown so nicely, you look so happy and refreshed. I am so proud of you.
I have to get to Sumfest, I’ve never been and I know it’s beyond fun.
